The Rig, by Joe Ducie (young adult). I like books where people are trying to escape. Lots of action, and the main character is witty.

When I was twelve, one of my favorites was Anne of Green Gables (Ann Montgomery, middle-grade). What I remember most is the scene in the school when Gilbert is teasing Ann about her red hair, and I knew right then they were going to fall in love. (Amy’s note: this tells me Montgomery excells at creating character dynamics.)
